Cleansing Your Crystals of Negative Energy
What crystals don't need to be cleansed?
Some crystals that may not need to be cleansed, but it does not hurt to cleanse from time to time, include: Citrine, Carnelian, Clear Quartz, Kyanite.
What crystals cannot be cleansed in water?
If the crystals are 5 or less on the Mohs scale, do not submerge them under water. Some crystals that should not be submerged in water are: Selenite, Malachite, Lapis Lazuli, Fluorite, Calcite, Desert Rose, Labradorite, Halite.
What crystals cannot be cleansed by going in the sun?
The following are crystals that will fade in direct sunlight: Ametrine, Aventurine, Apatite, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Beryl, Citrine, Calcite, Celestite, Chrysoprase, Kunzite, Sapphire, Fluorite, Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz.
What crystals do not fade under sunlight?
The following are crystals that will not fade in direct sunlight: Malachite, Howlite, Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Labradorite, Black Onyx, Black Obsidian, Sunstone.

When you first receive your crystal, it holds the energy of wherever it came from. And, if the previous owner of the crystal has any negative or dense vibrations, you best believe that they will be stored in there, and passed onto you.
Don’t want the all that past history? Clear your stones!
If you’re use your crystals often, cleanse them often. Trust your intuition as to when it’s needed. Sometimes you can tell by the way the crystal’s appearance has changed, how it feels in your hand, or how it energetically feels.
Smudging
Smudging entails taking a sacred herb, Palo Santo Stick (Holy Wood), taking a flame to the tip of the stick, letting it smoke, and then holding the crystal in the smoke for a few seconds. This is by far my favourite way to clear crystals – it’s quick, easy, it works on every crystal, you never have to worry if the crystal is too soft to be soaked in salt water, and you can get an effective self cleansing while you’re at it!
Smudging in this way clears all energy that has come in contact with the crystals previously, and has been practiced for centuries by many indigenous cultures, for good reason! The INCA of South America have been using this method for some 5000 years or more. Palo Santo removes negative and draws in good energy to fill the space. There are many other ways of cleansing but being Inca we choose Palo Santo as history has proven results.
